When I was in middle school, I worked part-time in my Aunt?s salon. I then went to a vocational school that offered cosmetology. How long have you been in this profession? Since 1985How would you describe your approach to doing hair color? Through consultation. It's good to find out the client's natural skin tone, what they want to change about their color, what their time commitment is, and what their beauty budget is. What inspires your creativity? Current trends in fashion and season changes. What advice would you give to someone considering your services for the first time? Look for pictures to show your stylist. How do you customize your services for each and every client? Consultation and getting to know the client. What's your approach to returning clients? Re-consulting, maybe you want something new!Describe your personal style: I think my personal style changes on a daily basis depending on my mood, seasons, and current trends.

I customize my hair services for my clients depending on their style.What advice would you give to someone considering coloring their hair for the first time? It would depend on what the client is looking for. I would ask them a series of questions to find out their lifestyle, how often they can come in, and how much they are looking to spend.How would you describe your approach to doing hair? I?m pretty straight forward when it comes to doing hair. I think it is important to be honest with your clients. I will analyze your hair and determine what I believe is the best option for you.When did you know you wanted to do hair? In college I worked at a hair salon. While working there I realized how much I loved working in a salon and decided to pursue it as a career.Things that make me laugh: my daughter, my husband, friends, and co-workers.

Even though that haircut didn?t work out too well for me, I knew at a young age that I had a passion for doing hair.How would you describe your approach to doing hair color? Your hair is very personal. By having a consultation on your first visit, I can customize your style to meet your lifestyle, budget, and personal style.What inspires your creativity? I get a lot of inspiration from celebrity hairstyles and also from continuing education classes.What advice would you give to someone considering your services for the first time? Bring a picture. It always helps to know ahead of time exactly what you want done and a picture is the best way to show me so that we are on the same page. What's your approach to returning clients? I treat all my clients the same whether you are a new client or a repeat client. Every service starts with a consultation to make sure I am always meeting your needs.

Well I always like to question myself while getting into a project, asking myself what if I do this, or do that, what will happen? I'm always educating myself on fun a new ways to take my skills to the next level!How did you get into becoming a hairdresser? Well I've always been into art and creating with my hands, and while on a break from college an old friend of mine, that was a hairdresser, told me that I should think about going to hair school, so after some thought I said, what the heck, so I did and I haven't looked back since!It's kind of strange now that when I look back at my childhood, I was always cutting my friends hair because I was the artistic one! They are the best in town and the chairs are very comfy!! When did you know this profession was right for you? Ever since I was a teenager, I have worked in a salon. One of the things that drew me to be a hairstylist was the energy that is produced by the salon. It?s a fast-paced, high energy place to be. What is your approach for doing hair color? I like believable color; the natural look. What inspires your creativity? I love making people feel good. What recommendations would you give to a first-time client who is considering coloring their hair? Pick out colors you like from magazines. We could start out with a semi-permanent color or face framing highlights for a subtle look.

Continuing my education is very important to me. I want my guests to experience the latest and greatest when it comes to their hair and the techniques/products we use on them. My end goal with every guest is to enhance the way they feel about themselves and give them a look that fits their lifestyle. My passion revolves around people; your smile and satisfaction is what brings me joy!

Finding each clients ?likes and dislikes? about their hair, enhancing what they like, and fixing any problems that they may be having.What inspires your creativity? Celebrities, friends, music, and my clientsHow do you customize your services for each and every client? Through consultation and trying to find their personal style.What's your approach to returning clients? I always like to start the appointment by reflecting on what we did last time. I?ll usually ask if they liked what we did last time or if they want to switch it up at all.

Level 4 - What are you obsessed with at A Do or Dye? I love the Redken Shades Cream. It is so rich and produces a nice shine for the hair. It also is true to tone making it very easy to work with. When did you know this profession was right for you? In preschool, I chopped the right side of my hair all the way up to my ear and was always cutting my Barbie?s hair. I realized, that even at a young age, I had a passion for doing hair. These experiences lead me to enroll in cosmetology school. How would you describe your approach to doing hair color? I love to start off with a good consultation with my client. During this time, we would look at pictures and swatches to determine what will look good with their skin tone. I would also ask questions about the client?s needs in order to establish a hairstyle that will be well-suited for their everyday life. What inspires your creativity? I?ve always been very artistic. I love making people feel good and look beautiful. Makeovers are my favorite! I am able to enhance the client?s true beauty inside and out. What recommendations would you give to a first-time client who is considering coloring their hair? I would first ask them a lot of questions like what kind of maintenance do you want?, what do you not like about you current hairstyle/ color?, why do you want to color it?, and what are your envisions for your hairstyle? After determining the answers to these questions, I would give the client my professional opinion on what I believe would be best for them. How do you customize your services for each and every client? I always want to enhance what the client already has (Hair flow, color, skin tones, etc.). This varies from client to client. My goal is to make sure the needs and wants are met for the client.

Having an open and detailed consultation before we start so we are on the same page. Then showing swatches and pictures to help visualize what you want and then we'll get started. What advice would you give to someone considering your services for the first time? Bring lots of pictures, of colors and cuts you like or even don't like. Communication is the key to getting exactly what you want.What's your approach to returning clients? Making the second, third and fourth appointments just as awesome as your first! Don't ever feel like you can't change either. Change is super fun and we can always try out a new color, or cut!

Byron is a graduate of The Central Maryland School of Massage, located in Frederick Md. He is very proficient at the modalities of Swedish Relaxation, and Deep tissue massage .Byron's passion lies in more therapeutic modalities. He attended class in Tempe Arizona and is certified in Fascial Stretch Therapy. He loves using a blend of stretching and deep tissue massage to loosen stuck tissue and help regain range of motion in the joints. Fascial Stretch Therapy stretches the connective tissue that surrounds the joints. This modality stretches both fascia and muscle, leaving the client loose and helps prevent injuries. Byron is an active outdoor kind of guy, who loves the woods and waters of Maryland. Whether you are an active athlete or in a job with not much movement, Byron is sure to help you regain movement, so you can have a pain free life.

Diane Santarella Lawrence has been a certified massage therapist since 1992. She has been an instructor and in private practice in New Jersey and a day spa owner and in private practice in Pennsylvania. She took a short ?retirement? from working as a massage therapist after moving to Mount Airy. However, she missed working at her beloved profession and became a Licensed Massage Therapist in Maryland in 2013. Diane?s bodywork specialty is incorporating heated river stones in a massage session. She loves aromatherapy and has extensive experience custom blending essential oils for clients. Diane feels massage therapy is integral to supporting health and feels privileged to work with each individual towards achieving balance and well-being. Diane is an artist and lives in Mount Airy with husband, Skip Lawrence and their dog, Rothko.
